I’m Donna Schlessinger—a Brooklyn-born straight shooter, wholly convinced that life’s detours teach us more about ourselves than reaching the destination ever could.

At 53, a DNA test revealed that the story I had always believed about my identity wasn’t entirely true. A few years later, an unexpected breast diagnosis led to a bilateral mastectomy. Throw in hearing loss, menopause, caring for—and eventually losing—my aging parents, discovering new family, and navigating wild family dynamics both new and long-established.

The headline? Life rarely unfolds according to plan. I’m worlds away from where I thought I would be at this stage of my life, yet I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

You may know me as @the.real.goldie, from Paramount+’s The Real Wolf of Wall Street, or through my writing on Substack and my podcast. But DonnaSphere is bigger than any single chapter of my life.

This is a modern midlife platform for women navigating reinvention, identity, health, style, relationships and life’s unexpected plot twists. I’m not here to pretend I have all the answers.

I’m here to ask better questions, share what I’ve learned and have honest conversations with people who know something worth knowing.

I’ve found unexpected healing and gratitude through some very challenging times, and I want this to be a place where you can find some of that, too.
